Rumours

OK so today's story is a little funny. A couple of girls I work with at the restaurant and I decided we were going to do an experiment this past week/weekend. Thursday night we decided to start the rumour that little innocent angel me was pregnant! But I didn't know who's baby it was. We wanted to see how long it took to get around all the servers, kitchen staff, management, etc. Understand as well that Dan and I have been dating for 10 months (well almost!) so being pregnant in the first place and not knowing who's baby it is causes a BIG problem, but stirs the pot a bit more to see how fast a little lie can spread and what it ends up being. Sunday during the day one of our co-workers decided he would confront me about being pregnant! I pretended like the story was true as I had to see how far this would go. He said he had found out from another co-worker about me being pregnant and just wanted to help anyway he could (what a sweetheart hey?!!?). Then today, I get a call from Dan saying one of the other guys at the restaurant had confronted him about my pregnancy. It just goes to show how fast a little rumour can spread. I will be in touch soon letting you all know how else this situation turns out and what other exciting confrontations I get! So all-in-all, I have learned that no matter what is said to you about someone else and their situation, it may not be the truth at all. Keep in mind that the people begin talked about have feelings and 90% of the time know what is being said about them, whether the truth or a complete lie.

Slacker Steph!

Hello again everyone.........I must apologize as it has been a few days since writing to you. Where did we leave off? Oh yes, I remember now. I went on a road trip out to Panorama Friday (the 20th) morning. What a blast we had and what a beautiful place to visit and have the opportunity to ski at. There are a couple stories that I need to tell about this trip. 1) *Corn-snow*: This is my term for 'fake' snow. Some ski hills are fortunate enough not to have to make snow, but Panorama is not one of them. 'Fake' snow freezes into little ice balls all over the ski hills and feels/looks a little like corn, hence the name corn-snow. This 'fake' snow is not only like skiing on corn, it also EXTREMELY icy. This causes a few problems when trying to get down a slope, let me tell ya! Dad fell his first run down, I actually don't even think we got further than about 20 feet down the first run and he was on his buttocks. We learned quickly that falling was not an option on these icy surfaces. 2) Holly and I both are equpped with skis and snowboards and decided that on Saturday night we were going to try snowboarding for a little bit. Well, understand that I have never taken a snowboarding lesson and Holly has only taken one. So this decision to try snowboarding on icy slopes was not the best idea we have ever had. Let me just say that my butt cheeks were black and blue (seriously, no jokes) Sunday morning when I awoke and Holly and I both hobbled around and whined the entire day about how soar we both were. We are looking at investing in a lesson before we try that again :) 3) Panorama has a magnificant 'summit' that you can ski down from. Dad and I ventured up there Sunday morning (yes after my snowboarding experience the night before!). Here are a few pictures just to get you to see how beautiful it is there and just how breath-taking our mountains are here in Western Canada. So all-in-all the trips was full of smiles and laughter. It was a break we definitely all needed.

Tradegy can bring miracles still........

This is a sad story today. A close friend of mine has just recently been through a battle in his life. His father was diagnosed with Cancer and hospitalized due to the illness about 2 months ago. When everything first came up, it was as simple as his Dad having to retire early as his health would not remain stable otherwise. The next thing we all know, he has been given 6 months to live; then it turned into 3 months; then it was what the doctors call "day-to-day". At this point, everyone is aware of the inevitable and it is just a matter of time and waiting for something to happen. I am writing this in loving memory of that magnificent man that passed away the evening of Tuesday, February 7th. My sole dedication right now is to my friend and trying to help him cope and deal with all that has happened, like I said before, within the last 2 months. If you are reading this (you know who you are), please know that my love and support is with you. Do not hesitate to ask for anything you may need. A friend's shoulder is sometimes the best cure for the hurt I know you are experiencing. A miracle does sometimes arise from situations like this.......Even though it may not be visible right away. A tradegy like this brings people (family, friends and acquaintances) together to celebrate the life of a loved one and realize that there is more to life than the everyday 'hustle-and-bustle'. The love and support that comes around in times like this just amazes me and proves to me time after time that no matter how mad you may be at someone, love will always be there to pull you through. No matter how hard you fall in life, you will always be picked right back up again. To all my friends and family........Have faith and know that everything happens for a reason.

Room-mates and bartending :)

OK so this story is a little bit of an interesting one......I have 2 friends, who are to remain unnamed currently as the situation is not sorted out yet, that are thinking of moving out of their parent's dwellings and into the big bad world on their own. Problem is, one thinks they are moving out together, the other thinks that she is moving in with me as of March 1. So do you see the dilemma yet?!?! I don't want to get in the middle, but really we all need to get this sorted out. If the one is moving in with me, she needs to tell the other that news. Unfortunately, we are all such close friends that we both know this will annoy, let alone make mad, the other one! Any advice from anyone on this? Sigh......it will work out, I just don't particularly like waiting. I have been told before that I seem to have a low patience level, so this is where it is kicking in. I will keep you posted in this situation FOR SURE. It should end up quite interesting. On another note, I am beginning to learn some new traits at good ol' Applebee's. I have entered into the world of bartending. Let me tell ya, I am really enjoying myself. I think the atmosphere behind that horse shoe of wood is completely different that running around all night serving tables. It's more fun for sure. I just need to get used to the complicated drinks; for example, last night draft beer seemed to be the drink of choice that I could just not grasp. Tilting the glass wrong, too much foam, etc. But all-in-all a good night and I am back at it next Monday so if anyone is there ordering drinks, BE AWARE!!!! Talk to everyone again soon. :) :) Happy trails

Road Trip

So Thursday and Friday last week had me out of commission as I was in Edmonton on my first official "business trip". I did have a good time though. Hy's Steakhouse was our venue for dinner, so you get a 7 oz steak a few veggies and a piece of garlic toast all for the magnificant price of $26, WOW what a deal, YA RIGHT. I nearly fell off the chair when I saw that. What's a company trip for right!?!?! Drinks and dinner it seems! I do have some sad news though. For those of you that know me well, you are aware of my problem. "Shop-a-holic" is the disorder I have been diagnosed with. But now for the bad news............I was in the city of Edmonton from 10:30am Thursday morning until approximately that time Friday morning and did not see, let alone step into, West Edmonton Mall. Let me tell you that this is the first and only time that will ever occur. I may have to take a trip soon just to say I went to the Mall. Market Mall just doesn't seem to do the trick anymore :(
